These mass shooters do have a motive tho it's usually an act of rebellion and to have their voice heard. I would call them misguided but not copers they know what they're getting into and do have a purpose more often than not.
I wouldn't even hype them up so much, I'd only give such praise to Elliot (and others like him) because he knew that in order to get a "win" you can't let society "punish" you to prove that they "still won in the end", that's why you're supposed to kill yourself before you get caught (or at least before you get punished)
Staying alive just lets them parade you around, defeated, to serve as a warning to all the other guys who planned on doing it, but if you had killed yourself and went out in the flames of glory it would have instead inspired future shooters
Rule #1 of mass shootings is that you have to kill yourself after, there can't be an "aftermath", you can't allow normies to have a chance of getting any "satisfaction" after the fact
The biggest slap in the face to normies was Elliot killing himself, because he denied them the sense of self righteous onanism they would have derived from sentencing him to life in prison
