That might be but let's not forget the fact that our human societies evolve all the time. What was considered good looking at a certain time can be despised in the future.

That's not really correct thinking. I guess you could give good examples and evidence either way but I feel many of us WOULD fare better in olden times. You have to remember mass transportation and communication were vastly inferior from today. That means most women didn't even go outside their city limits let alone talk with people a world away. It was very few women who took an off chance of just going to England to find their English man or flying to South Korea for their KPOP hubby.
Then you have to realize that racism and segregation and social norms would have actually helped us in this regard. What constitutes good and bad genes depends on the society we want to build.

If we want a primitive society where humans kill each other for resources and are living in mudhuts, then prioritising genes that signify physical strength and appearance (eg Chads) over things like intelligence is a must.

On ther hand if we want a more advanced society that will far outlive a more primitive society then prioritising intelligence regardless of looks is a must.
