Remember that only those of us who have experienced this sort of thing catalogue and keep track of and use it as daily vocabulary. The rest of the world generally catches up with and start using terms from fringe movements like ours about 5-10 years after its been in circulation.
Wikipedia having entries about meme culture or obscure subcultures feels weird ngl. I think it is the contrast between its usual serious tone and reading crap like this in those articles:

I did a poll once and asked 100 cels to post a pic on an ideal "chad" and got wildly different results across the board so I don't even know what even makes a true chad. Some were straight up ogre testoserone beasts and some were like prettyfags
