Bought a key for less than 5$, downloaded it on steam and the game it's pretty sweet. Graphics look great, music too and it runs soooo smothly, perfectly optimized :feelsokman::feelsokman: Much better than generic shooters like Call of Duty or Battlefield where you have just to cover for seconds and recover health, here you have to charge against demons and kill more to get health back kek. Only played 4 hours since I bought it on Friday but I'll play more later.

Best era of gaming were the 2000s decade and early 2010s in my opinion tbh. Many great games in there and also the best consoles (Ps2, Gamecube, Xbox 360, DS, PSP). Hell even games based on movies were pretty neat back then kek, games of the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars for PS2 were so good. I don't get why people complain so much about graphics and downgrades nowadays, meanwhile I can play a Ps2 game and I already think the graphics are good.

Yea it's great, still haven't played the sequel but my brother played it and told me it's equally good if not better in some aspects.

And to think Turd of Us won game awards over Doom. :feelsclown:

Yeah ive never been too worried about graphics in a game. I value story and gameplay more.

Its a shame

Not that i think last of us 2 should have won, but Doom is literally the pinnacle of the mindless shooter that people seem to talk shit about nowadays, except when it's Doom. Because wanking certain franchises is cool i guess.

It's a game vs a walking simulator.

Doom is the game last of us is the walking simulator.

And it's not that mindless.

There's a story and objectives.

Legit key for 5$? PM me the site bro.

Ah yes, that is what Doom is known for: It's ground shattering, heartfelt story which makes you go into deep introspection about life.
Every COD ever has a story too, yet it's labelled a mindless shooter regardless. What's your point?

Unlike in the real world looking pretty isn't enough with video games. Sadly a lot of game devs are putting an over emphasis on visuals and not plot and gameplay; the things that truly immerse you into the game (at least for me)

I didn't say that's what it was known for or that was one of its strong points.

Just that it's not really a mindless shooter (talking about Doom 2016 and Eternal) my point is it's just all around a better and more fun game than something like last of us which is more like a movie than a game.

What does it matter what you did or didn't say? The point is whenever you ask someone to describe why the play Doom, they will always use vague sentences like: "It's a badass game" or "It's cool" because they don't have anything to describe it with in the first place, the only thing the game is played for is the mindless repetitive shooting galleries, that's it.

Are you talking about doom 4? I played that about a couple weeks ago and it was definitely one of my favorites in terms of graphics.

Fair enough.

The doom games are a bit more than mindless shooters. Especially on higher difficulties. The enemies do lots of danger and can dish out a lot of damage. Successful play involves constant movement. Killing enemies in different ways gives you different resources (health, armor, ammo) which are always running low, requiring on the fly tactical decisions. Different enemies have different patterns, attacks weak spots ect. There is a good sense of progression with different weapons that you gain throughout and more and more powerful and varied enemies that emerge.

The metal musical score that goes with it is too notch, as well. The visuals and art style are fantastic. The contrast between the gore filled demonic structures and the slick architecture of the future is done very well. The animations of the enemies are believable and the death animations are satisfying and rewarding. Level design is interesting and there is genuinely enjoyable platforming gameplay breaks up the high octane and taxing battles.

The story, while bare bones, is a not so subtle commentary on corporatism, greed the ego of genius and the short-sightedness of capitalism in the first game. And the second is a gradually expanding cosmic terror inspired epic. Both games establish a fun time if brutality and grit that is consistent with the gameplay.

To OP: Rip and tear brother.

Idk, i suffered through 2016 on the highest difficulty and died a handful of times only, to me it was neither: Hard, complex or fun. But the most important thing for me was that there was no tension anywhere to be found, this is even worse in Eternal where ontop of getting checkpoints you also get extra lives in games(unless it's the highest difficulty possible). There was just nothing to keep me engaged, i ran around in circles in an arena until everything died, that was it. That's not to say i never got grazed by a shot btw. Overall i was disappointed with 2016 and couldn't even bother to finish Eternal, i expected FEAR levels of AI and some complexity in gameplay but i got none.

That's pretty cool. I guess you're just too talented for games these days. I mean that sincerely, not trying to be condescending. Must be rough. My hand-eye coordination is so shit that I can feel challenged by action RPGs (masses effect, cyberpunk) lol.

It is kinda crazy that there has been so little AI progress since the original FEAR, with most games having less developed AI. Must have something to do with the cost and long testing time not being worth it when most gamers barely notice.

it's better than doom eternal?

Im not really talented, it's just that i have been playing games for a very long time now. If a game can't beat me to me to my knees nowadays or isn't complex in some other way it's just not possible for me to have fun, so as you can guess my choice of game is pretty limited.

As for the AI: Developers are just lazy nowadays and gamers love fondling the devs nuttsack, that's why. I mean just look at the recently released Cyberpunk game, where the AI is so braindead that it has to spawn behind you to attempt to give you a fight? It has 79% score on Steam, let that sink in for a minute.

just finished it last month as well. bought it for $3. god dam that game was so good. i'll play doom eternal in like 5 years from now when its under $10.
as soon as i got the double shotgun i felt like a beast. the music gets you so hype.

doom gameplay sucks ass to me but the story and graphics are nice, i like the idea of mars being hell and demons coming from the core etc

Good game but i can't really play it anymore. I played like 3 or 4 hours or so and i can't push myself to continue on. Way less fun than old doom. Each level is like 30 minutes each and it's too slow for me

It's good but not as good as Doom 1993.

It's pretty good, I'm gonna buy Eternal when it drops price, meanwhile I'm downloading it for the switch

Ngl this game is hella boring!

I brought Eternal today too, played about 20 minutes of it. Not bad but like NuDoom 2016 its nothing like oldschool Doom (which is fine really) but ihate how people keep comparing the games.

Have fun ripping and tearing

Game is amazing, yeah — one of my favorites all time personally, have played it to death.

Eternal is awesome too though I didn’t personally enjoy it as much as 2016. From a technical point of view it is improved however and there’s a lot of great stuff in there — both are awesome games.

It’s one of those games where I think the higher difficulties are actually really good and almost required for a good time imo — game basically plays itself on lower ones but there is a lot of genuine depth for ultra nightmare for example — speed runs/one life ultra nightmare runs are a sight to behold and the game really lets skilled practiced players whoop some ass.
