I had the same thoughts a few years ago "I'll never kill myself" but at some point as you get older things are less and less bearable and you consider more and more suicide as a genuine option

Not really. I've dined on goyslop for 20 years and it's destroyed my life, body and soul. To the point I can't even bear to look at myself, or any part of myself. I don't really like music, I go months without listening to it. And if a song does connect, it usually just makes me sad. Music is too visceral and real, I can understand why so many musicians kill themselves or escape into drugs.
