I graduated high school CO 2025, and went to community college the next year. I planned to do that for two years and transferred to a real university.

But I dropped out mid spring semester because I didn’t like my major and it had no social life.

I tried to join the military, but unfortunately that didn’t work out.

So then, I was faced with two options: go back to college or be a minimum wage worker or something like that.

So I looked into college again, and I learned about rolling admissions. Some colleges with rolling admissions you can apply to in May (this month) and June.

This is quite a relief. I hope that switching my major and leaving home to go to a four year university might be an improvement.

I am still working on applications.

I live in California, and there are some state schools (CSUs) that have rolling admissions. There are also a ton of out of state schools with rolling admissions. I think there might even be some private ones too.

So tbhngl I have a decent selection.

It is unfortunate that I wasted a year, but eventually that will be water under the bridge.

I have no way of knowing wether I will like university or not, but there is only one way of knowing.

And it gives me hope. It gives me some to look forward to.

One more thing to stop me from playing GTAV irl for now.

Maybe I will ascend in college or maybe I won’t. Happiness itself is elusive, but the pursuit of happiness is essential.

How old are you? If you graduated last year, you're probably around 18 or 19.

You didn't waste a year, it's better to wait a year than keep doing things just to do things and end up spending more money down the drain. It's good to wait and take your time, and have free time. More people should spend a year out of school after spending nearly 14 years in K-12, and either just do fuckall, or get a part time job, or something. Anything but more schooling.

Now whether college is worth it, it really depends where you go (the state schools in California are decent), what major, internships. For the love of god, make friends with people and get internships. College isn't really about learning, it's more an opportunity to find employers, internships, and make friends who can help you in the future. You can go to community college the first 2 years to save money but if you qualify for scholarships and federal Pell Grant, and can afford to go straight to uni, GO STRAIGHT TO UNIVERSITY. The first two years are when you will network with people, make the most friends, get internship opportunities and research opportunities.
