Principially an education when I meet the wrong foid that complains about me at the wrong place, despite working in a field where many women work I try to distance myself as much from them as possible. But I thought about joining dating apps again. - animal skeletons (especially skulls, want one for every kind of venomous fang in snakes - also want one for helodermatids because they are venomous lizards who have their teeth in the lower jaw and they also have osteoderms on their skull); always wanted to have a complete snake skeleton on my working desk
- invertebrate preparates (exuviae or real animals)
- clearing and staining stuff (looks extremely aesthetic, you make the tissue transparent, then you colour the bones/cartillage)
- historical memorabilia
At the window I want
carnivorous plants in little water glasses or in glass enclosures - think of bladderworts/venus fly traps/sundews/butterwort in the little glasses and trumpet pitchers/etc. in the bigger enclosures, of course Sphagnum would be everyhwere. The standard shit like scindapsus hanging around there too.
Then there should also be some
living animals (like invertebrates/amphibians/reptiles/fish), some of them (like geckos) can be kept free in the room (but I don't want that due to the excrements). Want them in aquariums/terrariums - many great books for enclosure design in that regard. Want predatory fish preferably - especially one like
Thalassophryne (because he doesn't move very much and looks incredible) or giga-based looking fish like the
Xenentodon/Hoplias/Hepsetus. A
paludarium would also look great, especially when you have all the plants hanging in the water. Look at Panta Rhei for example when you like aesthetic enclosure designs. Want the room to be full of these animal enclosures.
A glass house would be giga-based and the next logical conclusion. Also with small pools, where you can keep turtles/fish in. Btw look at the Botanical Garden in Munich for example, traveled to that place a few years ago, has a very based greenhouse that can give you inspiration easily. Would also want a moor/poison garden and maybe an outdoor enclosure for snakes (like European vipers). When you like to read more about aesthetic designs of animal enclosures or the outside I recommend to you the books of Hallmen, Akeret and Wilms. If you want to see the most beautiful animals alive look at
Abronia - you can keep them in beautiful enclosures with bromelias, tillandsias and mosses. Maximum based.
My kind of travel is different than their kind of travel. In the Mediterranean for example I mostly go into the mountain regions to hike or into the shrubland to find interesting stuff. Most women like the beach or the restaurants and would complain when they get scratches or worse while looking for interesting stuff like animals/plants.
For example: I plan to visit Sardinia for the cave salamanders (
Speleomantes sp.), they are very interesting lungless salamanders/plethodontids (4x endemic species there). Most women (and my parents) would completely lose their mind over something like that. In Denmark for example I hiked for 20/30km each day, this is something to consider and not a thing that most people enjoy.
Btw: Imagine getting a woman that is interested in architecture/art and can travel with her to something like Florence and then she can give you a little talk about it - this would be giga-based.
