Byzantium didn't contribute anything to Christianity other than constantly losing land to Muslims due to being incompetent. Instead of helping the crusaders which was their only hope they tried to play their games and eventually got punished for it.

The likes of Franks, Normans and later Spanish and Habsburgs contributed much more to Christianity. Turks conquered Constantinople with ease but got BTFO twice when trying to conquer Vienna.
