The only AI we currently have is the kind that has to learn from a million random attempts, and a million failures.
We can (almost) teach a car to drive by letting it drive in a simulation and wreck over and over again. The resulting neural net, which actually can mostly drive a car, doesn't actually know what a car is, or a street, or a traffic light. It doesn't have internal concepts or ideas, it's just matching patterns using neural nets that formed from millions of failed attempts.
A big part of why it's difficult to create an AI girlfriend is that you can't let it learn in a simulation from millions of failures.
Conceptually, what you'd like to do, is have a way of reading human emotions. If you could somehow read hormone levels then you could tell when serotonin and oxytocin etc. are being released, and that would tell you that a person is happy or feeling "in love."
That would be your reward function.
Then you're want an AI that takes actions which maximize that function. She says and does things that change your hormone levels such that you're happy and in love with her. That's your intended end result. The problem is, given existing AI tech, how do you give the AI millions and millions of opportunities to fail?
Also, a related problem is that we humans may no know ourselves as well as we think. As a member of this forum, you are fairly black pilled when it comes to women, so you're aware of the darker side of their nature. You're aware of how many women have, for example, rape fantasies. An AI that successfully makes women happy is very likely to surprise you by doing a few seemingly awful things - but for some reason, women would love it. Basically, it would be a chad thug AI.
What if there's a dark side to you too that you aren't aware of? What if it turns out that the best way to make you happy is to convince you to rope? It's like Romeo and Juliet. What if there's an instinct inside you and the happiest you can actually be is thinking that you're dying for love?
You assume your robot girlfriend is going to sweet and kind and tell you everything's okay, but if her utility function is, "make him as happy as possible" what if it turns out that dying is the maximization of that function?
