Think about it: the only reason he can get away with having a minimum wage job at age 50 is BECAUSE he can just go get pampered by some woman who is willing to let him use her car and live in her house while he contributes jack squat financially. I can see what you're getting at with the "curse," but come on. His only issue is that he hasn't gotten good enough at what he does so that he doesn't have to work at all and doesn't end up homeless in between parasitic relationships.
