If you were black and/or academically/intellectually-inclined other blacks would accuse you of "acting white", being an "oreo" (Black on the outside, white on the inside) and then you would be regarded as an outcast among your own demographic and hated among them accordingly.

In my high school, the vast majority of black children were Somalian immigrants or the children of them. They did not talk much with the other students as they largely kept to themselves as a lot of them were rather shy.

However, among the few non-Somalian black students we had, they were obsessed over what was acceptable if you were black and what wasn't. There was a black student in many of my classes that could best be described as a black "nerd". He didn't speak in "Ebonics" and was doing well in school and liked to play Magic: The Gathering at lunch, and he was also obsessed with Star Trek. The former were constantly ganging up on him and making his life hell because he wasn't constantly trying to be "ghetto" even if this was a mid-sized town, not "da 'Hood" as they felt he was acting "white" and being a "race traitor".

While my high school also had a lot of "wiggers" that also hated him, all of the people he talked with and hung out with were white or Asian kids.
