I would actually prefer to get brainiac's powers for such a goal, you could actually save more lives and do more that way
As superman you'd just stop a few derailed trains, stop some bank robberies, etc
As brainiac you could integrate an advanced surveillance system into society that accesses all data everywhere and then you could use androids and robots to prevent crime everywhere before it even happens, you could also put a system like psycho pass (an anime)
Being superman is just about FEELING like you are saving the world, with a power like brainiacs you'd actually be saving it, you wouldn't save a few and then pat yourself on the back for being a "hero", you'd be able to save the majority
