I studied finance, just lol. I should have become a plumber, or a carpenter or whatever. There is a shortage of craftsmen, and the shortage will increase. I could have worked for 3 years, then started my own business and become a millionaire.

Instead I went to college, just lol.

Pursuing a useless major is really a stupid thing to do. Especially when you need to go thousands of dollars in debt for college

Do you have a job at the moment?

yeah trade is what im doing to leave neetdom not yet but eventually

I wish there was a way for me to alternate working hands-on for a week interacting with ppl and more solo cerebral at home work other weeks. I crave variety.

I wish I picked the right lottery numbers

Do you have a job at the moment?

Yes, related to my degree. Finance and accounting is not as useless as other degrees. But I am a wage slave.

At least you get a job.

I mean look at liberal arts degrees.

I suppose it's more straight forward than other careers you have to study for.

If by job you mean temporary employment, only to be tossed asside when your contracts end, and your manager/boss knows nothing besides being a Chad/Stacy. Then yes, I guess I have a job.

My condolences.

I thought it was a permanent fulltime job.

Trades are certainly not easy. Electrics especially. If you are an industrial mechanic or electrician you will be putting in a lot of self study and have to go on a lot of company provided training to keep you current. If you're an auto mechanic. Especially on European cars? You could be studying the tech manuals as much as working...

Never too late to learn a trade

what about plumbing? probably the easiest to get into

It is easier. Its also a dirtier job in my experience. I don't know what the law is where you live but in the UK we have something called gas safe which is a yearly training and certification program you have to do to work with gas. Most plumbers i know qualify in it.

One thing to consider is hydraulics engineer. Round here there is one particular hydraulics guy who everyone knows and he is the first call people make when they have a problem that the parts canon couldn't fix. He charges A LOT of money and drives an Audi Q7.

You could also go into welding. To be an expert welder and to do certain jobs you have to be extremley practiced. You climb the ranks you can become an inspector. All sorts of stuff.

I wish I took a gap year to figure out what I wanted to do. Getting forced into engineering by parents has been driving me crazy

Isn't finance a field that teaches you how to wisely invest to become a millionaire? Stuff like leverage etc...

US / you have to get certification here as well and work as a apprentice for 4-5 years / learn blueprints etc. / you can get paid to do it goto school and stuff / via apprenticeship school / and get a job afterward

Yes, easily put: Accounting studies the past, Finance studies the future. It could be banking, leverage and risk management, stocks/crypto/futures/bonds/futures...

its over for you boyo

Trades are over-hyped tbh, in reality a lot of people are doing most their shit themselves.

Unless you go for something really niche.

"Tradesman" here, well over 5,000hrs staring at a TIG arc. Living with my mother and my largest expense is my pot budget. Just lolololol @ my ducking life. Real shit tho every day I ride my bike I pray someone kills me and I dont have to force my mother through the greiving process of my suicide.

trades seem like shit. hard work that wears your body down, and making ur own successful business is probably hard as fuck. you're best where you are. how tf are you wage slave when you are making 60k+ a year starting salary? just work for a while and invest your money to retire early as fuck

best thing about trade school is there's (usually) no women. And it kinda feels good if you like physical activity

You earn a lot but you have to work hard from what I have seen. I will just stick with low pay but easy and not regularly

join the dark side.

major in maths. less workload compared to other stem, but much more mentally intensive.

I’m seriously considering it either that or maybe comp sci because they are pretty much the same (at my school)
