Joining any branch of the military wont give you purpose tbh. Certainly not more than literally anything else. If you went into combat and died, as an incel, one wouldn't be remembered nor cared about. Hell thats probably what society wants. I'd never join personally. If you don't get deployed or never see combat the army life doesn't look bad tbh. You barely have expenses as the government (and taxpayers) provides your housing and food, they give you a cool uniform and a gun and the pay isn't that bad. You can even get veteran discounts in some countries. Also you can retire early and get a juicy pension for serving the country.
I read somewhere that when soldiers are deployed like only 10% ever engage in combat, the rest are in the base training, doing logistical and administrative stuff or repairs. Even if you go to the combat zone there's a high chance that you spend your days bored in the trenches until they tell you to go back home.
The only bad thing is that you will be bullied by instructors and will be surrounded by Chad soldiers so it would be high school 2.0. Btw in an Airbnb accomodation I once met a British veteran who was in Iraq in the Gulf War in 1990s. He had seen some shit and had mental issues but still could retire early and got a very nice pension that allowed him to spend his holidays in Spain and then in UK work a chill part time job. Seems worth it.
