Here is my thought experiment from like two years ago. Imagine a platonic world of forms where the perfect essence of every "thing" exists.
In this world there is a perfect woman that exemplifies the essence of womanhood. Now what does this platonic woman wants from the platonic man?
1. Good genes
2. Security
Her ideal world would be one where she is in a monogamous relationship with THE Chad (i.e. the perfect man in the most essential sense). Where she can have his children and have him all to herself so he will take care of the children. While the rest of the rejected male betas serve them and their children for maximum security and prosperity for her offspring.
Now imagine the platonic man in this world. His primary goal is to spread his genes as much as possible. So his ideal society looks like a harem where he is the only man having any access to women. And the rest of beta male society serves him and his offsprings.
Our story starts when you put these ideal platonic men and women together to form an actual society.
>Initially all the women will flock to whatever best chad they can find. This would lead to the formation of a sexual class society with a few alphas at the top who hoard all the sex and the betas at the bottom, who in the women's ideal should take care of someone else's children.
>The problem though is that the betas too have sexual aspirations same as the alphas. And this situation would lead to conflict.
>Now this conflict can't resolve as a free for all death match where the last surviving male gets all the girls because the society needs it's men and only one won't do.
>So the only other way this can go is the men, recognising that they can't fight off everyone else but they all still have the need for woman, will form teams and enter the conflict. The alpha Chad's may try to preserve their position of privelage but them and their women supporters will be overwhelmed by the betas, who themselves are necessary for the society to function. This is the beta revolution.
>A consequence of this would be the men, who were once divided in their hopes to be the last alpha, but now united under a banner, would distribute the defeated women among themselves. And knowing that male-female ratio is usually close to 50-50, this new society would become monogamous as the most economical solution. Further since it was the women's sexuality that lead to this conflict in the first place, it would be outright banned and women would end up with whoever the system wants them to end up with.
So, there you have it. We have just derived monogamy as an institution from the basic premise of male/female sexuality.
Btw , none of this is happening irl. It's a battle that is being fought in our heads all at once. Maybe these conflicts do appear, sometime overtly sometimes covertly, in the real world. And in the end we get the same irl result, monogamy in a civil society.
