That's what a lot of people here don't understand. The diffrence in socio-dynamics in a mutual friendship vs relationship is night & day for most people. You can be an oofy doofy orbiter around a group and still wind up an incel due to constant friendzones & lack of interest from a romantic standpoint.

Friendship itself is a pretty vague term anyway. you might hang out with someone on a regular basis and act friendly towards each other but the friendliness could just be a facade for the sake of politeness towards whoever you're connected to.
