I love fantasy settings and having read quite a few novels a thought occurred to me maybe I'd want to write one myself. Preferably I'd want it to be somewhat incel coded, raising themes of male loneliness, finding one's place in the world, being a complete failure and things like that. At the same time I feel I can't make do without female characters altogether. Even more so that I was looking for a way to incorporate sistercest into the story, which is another favorite theme of mine. Obviously I wouldn't present it as scenes of blatant brother on sister sex but only interrogate the idea of them being attracted to one another. I even have some outlines of actual characters and plot points, but nothing too specific.
That's all well and good but the more I dwell on it the more unfeasible this affair seems. Like say I got the characters and themes, but they should exist in a world and manifest themselves through some kind of global conflict. But I don't have any idea of what this conflict might be. Le ancient evil has awakened or some shit. Seems pretty boring, I don't think I want to go through with it. Another issue is that I just can't write for shit, like the part of putting words into coherent sentences. And also I don't read much apart from fantasy. From what I've heard the quality of fantasy genre in general is subpar to that of other types of fiction, so maybe I should look somewhere else for inspiration? I'm not even talking about my lack of real life experience, sure I would have to improvise something on the spot and hope it doesn't sound too outlandish.
Anyway, anybody with similar ideations? Have you ever considered writing a story?
