I would be too afraid of sharks or other sea critters, I hate the ocean beyond the beach. I don't mind looking at it for the natural scenery so long as I'm not in it myself.
It's funny, camping out in my adventures bears, wolves, mountain lions, venomous snakes, alligators, and such don't phase me at all, but ever since I was young sharks I've always been terrified of. When I'm around the beach I hug the land. Then you have jellyfish, sting rays, and all those other creatures too. Surfing seems fun, but I could never do it.

Surfing in cold water though? Well, at least there would be no sharks so that is good.
