FedEx and other printing shops should be able to do it easily. If you wanna be serious about it, order 1,000 business cards from an online retailer. Can't be that expensive, depending on your choices. I think it would be great if you made the front a photo of him, and the back a description of what he did. Lamination is going to cost extra but might be worth it.

Quick google search gives quotes like $8.50 for 500 business cards. I'd expect laminated ones with a full color picture and double-sided to be something like $50 for 1000, perhaps less. I haven't used cards in a long time though so I am a bit out of the loop.

Just print it from a normal printer and get a laminating machine. Might not be small enough dimensions for a card though.
