Very unlikely to happen or even be destructive enough to be "world altering." The Chad level apocalypse is a massive volcano darkening the skies around the planet. This would:
-make people respect their status as animals on a floating rock
-be a calamity that would be noticeable by all humans everywhere
-would affect crops and cause mass starvation of excess people
-no one to specifically blame like with a nuclear conflict
-humanity would need to cooperate for a life-and-death situation so lookism would die and there'd be a true meritocracy by necessity
