Basically, in 2018 it was discovered I had a rare but really aggressive form of Penile Cancer. Due to the location and aggressive nature, the only fix was a total penectomy followed by a removal of the lymph glands in my groin followed by a short bout of chemo.

I didn't want to remove my penis, so I initially refused - I was willing to die "whole" rather than live a life without.

My old Dr called me in to chat with him I did, and my partner went along and he laid out the facts. It was only after hearing this she basically said if I didn't have the surgery she'd leave. Hearing this, I agreed to have it and as a result, I had my penis removed. Throughout, she promised me she'd be there for me no matter what and we'd get through it.

As you can imagine it was so tough. I really struggled with identity issues, and the going from a high sex drive to none really took it out of me. However, after really researching sex without a penis, and experimentation I thought we'd turned the corner and discovered a new normal.

Sadly it wasn't to be, she wasn't as happy as she made out and as such we've sadly separated.

That's absolutely part of it, but he only decided to get the operation because she was threatening to leave if he didn't.

If the options he had were "die of dick cancer while being in a loving relationship with your GF" or "Get your dick removed and grow old with your loving girlfriend of ten years" he still wanted to die of dick cancer rather than lose his penis.

it was only when the options presented to him were changed to "die of dick cancer alone" or "live a long loving but sexless life with your GF of 10 years who will totally keep being able to sexually satisfy you despite your lack of penis" that he was willing to accept dickless life.
