Not a good analysis of the Chinese, they don't have the same mindset as Europeans, you're applying a European lens on them which is faulty.

Firstly the reason why they are forcing ethnic minorities to go through all that is because they HATE decentralisation not because of imperialism, if you read any of Chinese history they hate the idea of China breaking apart and regions creating resistance movements because of different cultures. Actually this strong central state of the Qing is what prevented European colonization of China despite various attempts whereas India (which was broken up and decentralized) was much easier to capture. If everyone has the same culture, speaks the same language a strong unified state is much easier to achieve and easier to defend if a foreign power knocks at their door.

Secondly the a Chinese don't have the imperialistic mindset Europeans have, when the British came to trade with China they refused to let anyone learn Mandarin Chinese because they thought letting anyone know their language would be a gigantic threat to the state. Something which they thought the British would use to exploit them later on and infiltrate local politics. Again very smart, something the Indians failed to do. The way the Chinese work is by tricking and using their advantage of IQ and work ethic against other groups to gain a better position in the world but they would never expose the interior of their culture due to the fear of infiltration, unless of course it's to oppress existing minority groups within their country ( a centralization issue).
