Some dubs are good
Cowboy bebob,samurai champloo, FMAB, Dragon Ball, have really good dubs the voice acting just makes it sound more emotional and convincing compared to most other dubbed anime.
Plus,I’m just a fat weeb who finds the Japanese language very pleasing for me to hear, along with the voice acting is just more emotional and convincing compared to the dubbed versions.

I hate dubs, it takes out the inmersion. I always prefer watching movies, series and anime with their original voices. Chinese may be the only language that's so horrible to hear that can be an exception for me
There's this blackpill french movie called whatever and i agree with your point that if it were dubbed in English, it wouldn't be impactful

with few exceptions (e.g., Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo) I think dubs are inferior to subs but it may be an acquired taste as you said. I also prefer originals over derivatives as a rule. Be that as it may, I don't actually read manga.

If they hire quality voice actors i prefer dubs over subs. Who wouldn't prefer watching something in their own language rather than reading text. Problem is apart from Studio Gibli and a few select anime dubs are trash and sound unnatural.
