In the sixties until the eighties and maybe even the late nineties the old left use to oppose censorship of all kinds especially if it was directed towards them, what changed is that they came into a position of power and then became corrupted under it for themselves to which in their perception it is alright to censor anybody that doesn't agree with them now.
