Maybe you can pickup some good novels to read. Old classics are cheap anyway.
I also watched virtually every movie I like, and there are only a couple of new movies a year that I enjoy. So I started watching some tv series and anime but I'm not a big fan of that and honestly it's not the same thing.
Have you seen: "Pi", and "The Wrestler"?
I've seen pi, I hate pro wrestling tho so I never saw the wrestler
The Wrestler qualifies as a "lonely male sad story" though, a good one.
For "realistic mystery horror" suggestions I can suggest "It Follows", "Wish Upon", and "Freaky". Each of which were not well known and I liked a lot.

nah there's good films here and there, but the majority has always been mass produced trash
Fun is misogynistic and offensive, also sexist and captures the male gaze
Therefore all entertainment must be watered down uncreative trash
