I think you are unconsciously rating these guys lower than they actually are and/or rating the girls higher than they actually are

Looksmatched couples are rare, most couples I see the guy mogs the woman, he's usually taller and in better shape

As a cashier I noticed in the cases where the guy was lower in looks, he'd basically be buying a bunch of expensive shit for the woman he was with, while better looking guys would still buy women's shit but didn't have to spend as much (like buy her makeup, etc)
