Remember my Truck-kun? The one I used to either go places or almost ram foids over (by accident since they dont look were they go)?

Well today I solved a 3 month old problem. That problem was a fucking pil leack. So today I thought I might as well change both the oil and solve the leack, got some gaskets, oil, and a new filter.

Thankfully I just blew 200$ on a new jack so I wont need to breack my back on my uncles overkill car jack any fucking more. And since its a 2002 MDX, the oil filter is behinds the passenger tire.

First problem. The drain plug on my vehicle is a metric 16. Not the drain plug that rock auto and Oreily thinks it is. So I had to borrow my grandmas car to go to like 3 stores to find a proper washer. Then I had to clean out some wierd puss colored shit on the plug and knife out some white shit on what looks like a fail attempt of a plastic grommet on the plug. After that I was able to put the plug back in. And now for the next part. The oil filter. At first I accidentally used the wrench on the wrong direction and then switched it. Just because the oil pan was drained deosnt mean the filter and what lies above that filter deos. So it got messy... Again. After that but before I could put on the new DENSO filter I decided to remove the bracket that holds the oil filter and replace the gasket. Just line the one on the old ass filter it was closer to a soft plastic then a real rubber gasket.

But suprise! There was another gasket that came with the origonal rubber gasket I got for the bracket. Turns out there a oil soilenoid so I had to torture my finger and for once in a life time use a actuall wrench or 10M instead of the socket & 3/8 ratchet. Especially the front 10M bolt. But I was able to replace it. Wile listening to Super Heaven (its basicly midwest rock). After that I made a big fucking mess trying tk put in 5W30 in my truck kun. Used the ladt role of paper towels to clean any mess oil so I can more easily ID any oil messes. And then my car made a weird noise when I ran it. Drived normally and I did like a 20 mile drive with the temp staying on the half mark. Oh and if you buy oil from auto zone, they drain out the shit oil for free. Thats why I got me a oil pan. Morral of the story, Im tired as shit, and big bulky vehicles are a bitch to work on. Such as a 2002 MDX. Oh and here is some pics of the old oil filter. The second I removed it oil gushed voilently enough to fling out the filter gasket.

A bit of advice, get disposible rubber gloves so that you can not need to wash your hands like I do. And have orange soap. Itll save you alot of bullshit. But hey, its cheaper then having a fucking mechanic fix it for me.

Whats not ausome is the shitty 15MPG. I cant wait to trade this fucker for a 2nd gen CRV and not have to sell my kidneys for gas. 80$ needed for a full tank on my truck-kun

Brutal. My pickup truck only gets 14 mpg city. But it gets 20 on highway or more. Took $30 to fill it from just over half a tank.

Whet engine do you have? If it’s a naturally aspirated v6 you might want to think twice before getting rid of it for a smaller 4 cylinder car that has a turbo.

The naturally aspirated engines are usually more reliable than turbo engines

V6. The MDX is nothing more then a luxurized Honda Pilot. So of course its gonna be shit MPG.

Yeah. My truck is a 4300 pound or so gas hog, but it’s a good work truck and is very useful. Plus the 4x4 works great and keeps me going when others are stuck.

It does feel good driving around a big truck though. Car mogs most foid drivers lol. Definitely won’t get rid of it as it’s cool and I need a truck to haul shit. I have hauled 1,100 pounds of concrete in it once for a project

I have a 2nd Gen crv, I like it quite a bit.

Had a first Gen years ago, liked that as well, actually prefer the seats of first gen, was just roomier not both are good.

Interestingly the Honda pilot and Accura MDX has this feuture called VTM4 lock. You put the shift in either 1st,2nd or reverse gear and push the button, it engases these clutch plate in the differential and makes both rear CV joints act like a monolithic axle. Never used it but I wish it would be on all of the SUVs instead of my truck-kun here.

Had a 1st gen a bit over a year ago. Did alot of work on it. The suspension is fucking scare fuel. Its design is a fucking upside down wishbone design. The ball joint is being pulled upon and is the only real thing holding the weight of the vehicle to the steering knuckle. Saw videos of the 2nd gen and thankfully ditched that nightmare of a upside down wishbone design. Heah I think Id rather own a 2nd gen then a SUV that can double as a sleigh.

Wow. Sounds like a diff locker. My SxS atv has one of these and it works wonders for when you need great traction for pulling heavy shit in poor traction areas

I do thinks its better then really any 4x4 but I never did off roading. And it saddens me that its not on the CRVs as it would have made a great off road feature.

Yeah. I’ve done some serious work off road with my ATV and it’s cool. I also have taken my truck up steep hills in the snow and it does it no problem
