Season 4 was the shittiest season. I barely remember what happened in it. They just completely reset everything after season 3.
It really wasn’t, they were setting up the evil Butcher plotline with Joe Kessler, and Homelander becoming president. The only reason that it doesn’t make any sense now is because Kripke dropped all the concepts (because they couldn’t afford Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Maybe, Dexter fit in 12 and had almost 0 filler the whole way through. It would’ve helped them if they didn’t spend an episode doing Supernatural callbacks and focused on the plot more than dick and ball jokes.
8 episodes is probably too little for the amount of plot threads they set up, the earlier seasons didn’t have as much shit so they could fit it all in.
They had to cram a bunch of stuff into the finale like Deep and Ashley, which really should’ve came before.

Liberal writers getting irritated that people are getting a certain reaction to a character they are trying to portray in a way they think would make you dislike them. Probably why they did him so dirty.
If they took away his power, wouldn't it take years for it to really erase. Ok, they take V which mutates them in ways that help. So there's a genetic reason for their superiority. Which means their protein structure is what gives them their powers. So Homelander should still have the protein structure. But he should slowly be losing his strength as his cells replace and like whatever super proteins he has get consumed and replaced. Isn't that a better story? Like they hit him with the ray episode 1 and then they have to time killing him just right before he gets V or V1 to reinject himself to regain his powers. That's way more thoughtful....
