You'd better be writing Medium articles on the process brah bc I'd read them and recruiters will be lapping your dick (or so I think)
Too lazy for that but I can give some details:
The tv in question is a Philips 55PFL8007K/12 it was released in 2012 and was high end at the time.
I got it from some boomer in near mint condition with extra stuff for 30 bucks, mainly for the ambilight and its high quality built.
The problem lays beneath the chip, the soldering balls couldn’t handle the extreme heat of the cpu and after time got cracks within them, basically bricking the TV, same scenario as in early ps3/xbox 360.
There are 2 ways on how to repair it:
Use a heat gun directly on the cpu to melt the soldering balls directly below it. Never tried it tho because I’ve read that you can easily fuck up and that it only lasts a few months.
Full reball
Very washed tutorial but that’s basically what you’re doing:
You fully remove the cpu from the mainboard
Clean the board of the old soldering balls
Reapply new soldering balls on the cpu through a custom pattern
Resolder the cpu on the board and viola.
There are ofc a thousand mini steps between those
I also drilled 5 holes in the back off the tv and replaced the cooling block with a usb fan I got for 2€ from Aliexpress.
You’re also not allowed to use the smart tv because it overheats the cpu.
