I actually prefer phone calls to real-life interaction. The fact that they cannot see me and are too far away from me to judge me in any meaningful way makes it more relaxing, it's very similar to online interaction in that regard.

Spot on, lack of eye contact is disorienting. I one time got a call back from a job I had applied for, and the foid on the other line interviewed me on the spot. I was currently walking to class and it took me by surprise, so I ended up fumbling my words during the "interview". Needless to say, I never got called back.
