Theory I find myself watching mostly old videos (on youtube, etc)

Like... these days the world seems particularly crazy and... even though old stuff did have some current day stuff here and there and some drama, I don't think it was as bad as it is now.

There is the odd creator here and there who does talk about a topic without bringing too much drama into it but they're quite few and far between, it seems.

I watch a lot of 1970s shows like Mannix and Barnaby Jones, or the original Hawaii Five-0. That decade had great production budgets while still being aware of older viewers who wanted to avoid jive, homos, and feminism. By the 1980s shows pretty much in the present paradigm of trying to cater specifically to suburban women shoppers so way more "very special episode" social commentary.
