I am from Northern Ireland, it may be technically in the UK but there is a big cultural and historical difference between the two lands. It is a land that essentially refused to accept colonialism, the Protestants would have preferred Catholics to move to the south but we still stayed in our pre colonisation areas and this created a culturally divided country.
The Ulster Scots are a confused people, they dislike Celtic culture for example the Irish language eve though their towns are named from the language and even their ancestors in Scotland spoke a similar language, Scots Gaelic.
