Venting I don't understand how people enjoy socializing

Today I attended a family/extended family gathering, while I wasn't particularly nervous, I just had no interest in speaking to anyone there. Pretty much all I did was sit by myself and tune the whole environment out. That's mostly what I always do, when I'm not at my computer I don't want to be in reality.

I swear that I would be happier if I never had to leave my house again, as I get little to nothing out of doing so, and get absolutely nothing at all out of irl socializing.

Well that's true of me as well, I'm horrible at socializing. But you have to keep in mind that we're forced to interact with people all the time, and being happy with sitting in a room 24/7 isn't conducive to being a member of society. I wish I could get something out of irl interactions as it would make them more bearable, but I just don't.

Both have their pros and cons tbh.

I used to feel like that, but haven't for quite some time. It might be that you crave your preconception of socializing and other people, but that this imagined version doesn't exist in reality.
