A former friend of mine once said ER should’ve used his skills to write a book because he was such a great wordsmith. And after having had some experience with the industry myself I don’t think so.
The book market is very saturated. Publishers reject many unsolicited submissions without even reading them because they don’t have time to review the bucketloads of books they receive. If you are a nobody they doubt your book will sell.
Unless you are already famous or have a connection in the industry, you’ll get a no even if you have the skills of Arthur Conan Doyle. If you grind and grind for years you MIGHT succeed eventually, but ER was already worn down to the rim from a lifetime of incessant negative experiences. No way he had any patience left for that. This would've just been more ragefuel for him.
