This made me think, why don't we have ice spheres in our drinks instead of ice cubes. A sphere has less surface area relative to it's volume than a cube does, so it would take longer to melt. It would also cool the drink slower though, so I guess that is the trade off. I still prefer crunching on ice in my drink.
