When I was in 10th grade, I listened all the time to Korn. I related to their lyrics a lot. I remember a few chads/chadlites who i talked to a lot in middle school and at the end of 9th grade they all acted like douchebags to me, and continued to do so in 10th grade. they made sure i wouldn't hang out with people they knew and would stare me and mock me if i was nearby. i didn't deal with them in 11th or 12th grade. in 12th grade i got along with them again but we became acquaintances rather than hanging out all the time. I would listen to Korn a lot because of it. I related a lot to their lyrics. I couldn't grow dreadlocks but i tried looking like their drummer by having short hair and a chin beard. and i tried wearing baggy clothes and ADIDAS too.

then when i got into 12th grade, i started being the Yes Man and would engage in so many activities and do fun things and meet new friends i could talk to. Suddenly instead of relating to Korn's lyrics I related to Blink-182's lyrics because they write about being a teenager and having fun (except i didn't relate to having a GF but whatever). Suddenly i was obsessed with blink-182 and i tried acting like them and would act funny sometimes. I was so bluepilled back then.

In college, my OCD became insane and fucked up my life and i went to a community college full of ethniccels and landwhales and nobody there talked to each other and it was impossible making friends while everyone from my HS went to uni and joined greek life and partied. But I had false hope about the future and continued listening to blink-182 but also listened to bands like Hatebreed because of my OCD (especially hatebreed's perseverance CD). i didn't really relate to Korn's lyrics anymore except the song "Blind".

Now i'm a 23 year old elder who missed out on his young adulthood and quarantine got rid of my chances of enjoying the last year of my early 20s, now i suddenly relate to Korn's lyrics again. I often listen to the song "Faget" and replace the word "faggot" with "virgin" and i imagine the song is about virgin shaming and inceldom and men who are laughed at for being sub5 virgins. I can't listen to pop punk like blink-182 because i get nostalgic toward 12th grade and feel suicidal. I never got to enjoy college and i'm bitter. I can't listen to any pop punk. Hearing some pop punk guitar leads make me both nostalgic and bitter.

Now i'm listening to slipknot, korn and linkin park.

@RREEEEEEEEE thoughts?

blink-182 was pretty cool tho

I tend to obsess over some types of music and forget about it completely later
it seems chapter of my life has a different flavor of music

yeah. i just can't listen to music like them because their music is very chad-esque and i need some anger in my music.

I've seen korn live when i was obsessed with them in the summer between 10th and 11th grade or something

i saw blink-182 live just 30 days after graduating high school. i graduated high school in 2016. The summer of 2016 was the last time i was truly happy.

Believe it or not, nearly all musicians are frauds that had their music shoved down your throat by the rich record labels they’re signed to

exact same thing happened here, my life fucked over even more after that summer
My life took a massive hit at the beginning of 2017 and has been complete shit since then
worst part is I felt like things were going fine for me, but then things took a turn for the worst

i haven't decided to rope yet but if my life doesn't get better in the rest of my 20s i'm roping. can't change my mind. but missing out in college and age 22/23 is traumatic experience, it's called the best years of life.

fuck this gay earth

Except underground musicians

Same here bro. I have severe OCD as well. How did your OCD daily torment you? My OCD is a voice in my head that tells me to touch shit. Its hellish, Also, I relate to artists such as Nirvana, Pantera (especially their song i'm broken), Death, and black metal bands. Im an edgy fuck, I get it.

I listen to a song 100s of times til hearing it more makes we want to throw up,
then I get depressed because that was the only song I ever liked,
then I find another song usually randomally, and listen to it hundreds of times

kind of like with porn videos

That's such a teenage thing to consider music anything but pleasing background noise.

Heres a song that I've listen to dozens of times in one session:

I relate to this songs lyrics as well.

i have listened to a lot of pantera in life. i wish my voice was like phil anselmo instead of my nerdy voice.

i always needed to know the truth about something, and it took me 4 years to finally figure it out. and i was obsessed about it. i possibly could've figured it out at 21 instead of 23 if i didn't procrastinate. OCD fucked up my life when i was about to turn 19.

some songs get old and so i have to resort to songs i haven't listened to in a while. now usually i struggle to find new songs i can be addicted to.

Wtf who takes music this seriously
I guess it's you OCD causing it

music and speakers are my favorite cope
Yes, music is a good cope but OP is autistically liking music to the point of imitating the performers
"in this stage of my life I listened to heavy metal so I was moody and depressed, and In this stage of my life I listened to happy teenage music so I was cheery and friendly"

I had a somewhat similar experience. In my early 20s, I was really into Inucubus. Back then, I already knew some English but not nearly as much as today. Recently, I started listening to it again and now, understand the lyrics, I feel comforted by the fact even Chadlite rockstar Brandon Boyd went through hell at the hands of foids.

Its brutal when you realize that 999.9999% of all songs are about love

And we cannot relate to them

Im just bitter when I hear any pop song these days, its why I mostly listen to random EDM mixes

metal and punk bands don't write about love (except glam metal, pop punk, some nu metal, and some metalcore)

It depends on what's important to you when it comes to enjoying music. Lyrics aren't a priority for me; I'm naturally more drawn towards the instrumentation and vocal melodies - essentially not so much what is being said as opposed to how it's being said. Post Malone's Rockstar comes to mind - the lyrics are banal garbage, but I dig the super chill, ambient vibe of the song which comes through the instrumentation and his vocal melodies, so as bad as the lyrics are, they don't detract from my enjoyment of the song. In a more general sense, I like a lot of songs with lyrics relating to relationships - again, though, it's not because of the lyrics, as I can't relate to them at all.
