it was certainly middle class, a lot of wealthy, well off, can do families lived there.

Upper-middle to upper class youths (especially foids) tend to be more socially progressive, as they love virtue signalling in order to compensate for being privileged (as well due to inherent histrionic personality traits in the case of foids).
