I argued with a guy that said Avengers movies and Social media filled the void of modern society

He also said there was no "void" in modern society. That people now are happy as ever.
I am too autistic so I couldn't refute that proposition when he said it. It is so absolutely false that I never thought someone would even say that. It's like when someone say that water is dry and you don't have a answer to that.
What would you say in that situation?
