I am obsessed with knowing what it is. Christianity so far has done little in the way of dealing with it. It consumes so much of my energy. What is the God?

Personally, I started off as a child nominally Christian, became an New Ager / atheist-ish. Then I had all these emotional or maybe even (spiritual?) experiences with the Word of God that made me Christian. I still am Christian I suppose but over time my faith eroded to the point I barely believe in Christianity. It's still there but it's pretty much just meh. I am however, a strong believer of the God concept. There is too much evidence of it, but personal experience with religion (because religion is obvious bullshit) can make you reject that evidence of the God evidence in pursuit of a materialist view, which isn't really a problem for me, I just find any rejection of truth based on emotion / butthurt against personally percieved God as pathetic and low iq.
