I went into college in 2023 having no idea what I wanted to do, so initially I just chose the same major as my sibling (engineering).

As soon as the hard classes hit, I realized I fucked up BAD choosing engineering. If you don’t know, basically it’s a glorified math degree.

I eventually just talked to my parents halfway through and said I need to change to something easier or I will kill myself. I’m now doing an engineering technology degree which isn’t as hard and I just know they are looking down on me.

I will probably never make as much money as my sibling and nobody will respect me as much as them. So I ask this, what’s worse, getting a shitty degree in college and being a shadow of your sibling, or blasting your brains out in a dorm room?

r u going to drop out

No, my parents would crucify me. I am going to graduate in 2027 and then live out my shitty life.
how can u even keep going under this state of mind, i cant make it now

So long as you make enough money to live and enjoy some copes, it is all good, imo.

Remember, it is a genetic lottery and we were handed the shittiest of hands, not just looks wise.

We are handicapped in many ways.

You should primarly focus to obtain a job that you actually like doin, since you mayve have to do it for the next like 40 years, so if you like the thing your currently doin and could think of slave as that the rest of your life you should stay with it even if you earn less then your siblings

These more difficult degrees aren't even guaranteed to help you attain a job nowadays. It's a scam.

I've experienced litteraly the same thing in 2022 and I tried to reorient myself in computer science, which I also abandoned.

As someone with mech eng degree from a non-retard university, engineering degrees aren't worth much anymore.
Schools are pumping out way too many engineers, which suppresses wages and creates shitty work condition. I got out before AI became popular but I don't imagine it had a positive impact.

Like someone said earlier, go for something you enjoy and can see yourself doing it till your 60s.

Thanks man. I will try to make enough.

I definitely could find a job with this career just it's unlikely I will make over 100k anytime soon (next 20 years?) unlike my brother.

You NEED connections to find jobs. You need the degree to get hired with the connections.

There's more to life making some money or earning your family's approval. The entire world is yours, endless possibilities.
Ask yourself what would you want to acomplish and move to it, no matter that speed. If you don't know, just do whatever you want and keep asking yourself that.

Don't let your insecurities hinder you

We are coming into the job market at a pretty horrible time too unfortunately.

AI was a terrible happening. Once you use it for the first time for schoolwork it's impossible to want to not use it. Hopefully I can land a design job in ~10 years so I can work remote from wherever I want.

Thanks man hopefully I can move somewhere I want and live peacefully (Rocky mountains, Black hills, Le Sal mountains). Maybe find a used up woman eventually too.

Judging by the way your parents are, they probably prefer the second one.

I just dropped out entirely, it's too hard.

Thanks man. I will try to make enough.

Money is not as important as liking to do what you are doing.

If you hate your job, no amount of money will ease that pain.
I know because I have been there.

I left because the pay was bad also.

You did the right thing, if math isn't your strong suit, in math orientated major, then you gotta reevaluate

Don't mind what your parents think of you bro, just do your best :)

:feelsYall: Thanks man

Atleast you didn't pick a meme degree. Engineering technology degree 100x better than a social studies degree or psych degree or something jfl.

Let a wageslave tell you this: aslong as you make enough money to stay alive and afford some copes you earn enough, if you like your current job, stay with it you and your brother are probably gonna have to work both until your sixty so dont give a fuck about how much you earn and instead focus on work something you actually enjoy doing

Very true. I would rather drop out than pursue a fake and gay degree that's totally worthless anyway.

Thanks man I will do my best to find a job that isn't suifuel of course.

Honestly nothing matters to me anymore on those regards

Brutal IQpill.

Working at an airport seems cool
the infrastructure is enjoyable to a degree but its just a glorified supermarket really. Im glad I don’t touch food for a living but it is very close, wish I could work in a office and be cool
