I saw this article when it came out and wanted to write about it here but due to social obligations IRL I didn't have much time so here it goes.
web.archive.org
The article is essentially about a toilet who keeps dating but despite dating for so long doesn't seem to understand men at all. My guess is that it's her lack of empathy that is at play here.
"I’m 38 next month. Not a particularly significant birthday. Not a big one. A perineum age, if you will, between the age at which a woman’s ovaries supposedly fall off a cliff (35) and the age at which the rest of her might as well too (40), since after that we’re no good for anything except cribbage and playing the incontinent grandmother in films."
This is actually true, the older a toilet gets the less fertile she is (same with men, but worse for toilets). Having children past this age is actually irresponsible.
"Although it does mark an anniversary of sorts, I realised recently, with a combination of horror and fascination: it’s 20 years since I started dating. Twenty years! Two decades of shaving my legs, rubbing in posh body moisturiser, putting on nice knickers and heading out with that adorable optimism, only to return home that night, or the next morning, or 6"
Fuck, this article worked for me when I opened it in Google News but doesn't anymore.
She goes on a rant about how "some men treat sex as a race" or something not understanding that premature ejaculation is a largely biological thing that most men who suffer from this can't help it because it's biological. Imagine shaming toilets with a naturally dry vagina or vaginismus. Of course not because all bad sex is blamed on men, toilets don't have to do anything.
I should have covered this article immediately, now I can't bypass the paywall.
I’ve been dating for 20 years. Why am I still single?
