When to my classes and then I went home, nothing special. Except during like 12:30pm, a cop came to the lecture room I was in, while I was watching @Sneir livestream.
I also feel this way whenever I'm employed, but whenever I spend a significant amount of time rotting I feel even worse.

It's not so bad, tbhngl. You can kite them one at a time. Your stats and gear should be high enough by then that they're more of a nuisance and less of a threat.
The great thing about this game is that you can take the very weapon you start with and beat the whole game with it. Remember to upgrade the weapon you plan on using until the end at the 2-3 blacksmiths you encounter. You can upgrade the weapon with the default focus on physical attacks (recommended for most weapons), or you could upgrade them with a focus towards some other kind of damage. The upgrades go to level 10 in Dark Souls 1-3, and up to 25 in Elden Ring (if I'm not mistaken). Prioritize upgrading weapons over armor. The best defense is not getting hit (dodging), the second best defense is parrying with a shield, the third best defense is blocking with a shield, and finally, you have your armor.
These upgrades usually change the stat scaling on the weapon. When you open more info on the weapon and see the stat requirements etc. you will see letters associated with each stat it scales by. The letters are S, then A-E, in that descending order. Weapons with A scaling are very, very good. Weapons with S scaling are top tier and mostly BiS (best in slot i.e., end game gear).
As I mentioned to you, I like to use spears because they're very safe. The trade-off of lower damage for the ability to do damage from behind a shield is one of the best trade-off you can make in video games imo. Practically every weapon in the game is viable.
