A better test is go to lecture hall on the first day, sit in talking proximity to several woman (not hitting on them, just general class topics). See what their reactions are. If the general reaction from them is discomfort, it's over.

Happened to me once.

I was the only guy in class (it was family studies so there's a higher female demographic) and one of the first to arrive, the table I sat at was the only one that was empty despite the others being full.
