The is a way of life. It is the foundation of emotional stability for all people who believe that life has meaning. It's easier to tranquilize people by feeding them with fantasies rather than with unpleasant truths. Because people who believe in the bluepill tend to reproduce and spread their bluepill beliefs to their descendants.

Another thing is that people seem to prefer the thought of being in control of their life situation , and that everything they do is of their own might and resolve. They are afraid of accepting there may be things in life that are totally beyond their control and can negatively impact their personal situation.

People in general seem to dislike the idea of not being in control. Like being forced into certain situations they'd rather not be in , or lacking in the resources and assets needed to liberate themselves from unpleasant conditions irrespective of their willpower or determination.
