How I'd rate the Nintendo Switch compared to other Nintendo consoles

Since the Switch is now entering the waning years of its life, I think it's fair to judge the switch as a whole compared to previous Nintendo consoles.

Good

• While releasing in a poor form, the switch eventually was able to have a decent battery life with later models.
• The gyro controls are nice and make ports such as Resident Evil 5/6 worth playing despite the worse frame rate.
• 3rd party support is fairly good.

Bad

• The switch itself feels very cheaply made and imo, is a very ugly handheld.
• the hardware quality is bad, both in terms of technical specs and in terms of build quality. Joy cons randomly aren't detected when you're playing in handheld mode, and input lag is insufferable when you're playing in docked mode.
• You have to pay for peer to peer online which runs worse than the online on 3ds and Wii U
• There's very few quality first party games on Switch despite having a much larger library. Breath of the Wild is a shallow and repetitive game that lacks long term replayability. Mario Odyssey is a lazy copy and paste fest. Pikmin 4 is a complete insult to the series and removes anything that made it good.
• low effort games like the Mario sports games that have less content than old Wii and GameCube games
• horrible localization and censorship for any first party jrpg
• bad "ports" aka games running on an emulator sold for $60/$50.
•half the best first party games are ports and remakes
•joycon drift

Final rating
4/10.

Soytendo is for man children

"But it's cheap and gives you old games :soy: "
I miss virtual console where you could just buy Mario 64 or Donkey Kong Country and not have to worry about renewing a subscription every year to play them. Back then they even managed to nearly perfectly emulate N64 with barely any input lag. A shame how far they've regressed.

only because of the OLED screen. While with snitch 2 they are back to the square one with shitty inefficient LCD that can only work on PC as you can never care about battery life

Interesting i have question tho, did you grow on nintendo games ? like mario or zelda ?

My childhood were games like skyrim or fallout

Is it easy to jailbreak?

Eh, they updated the LCD one to have better battery life as well. The Switch 2 has a worse battery life also because it's a much more powerful handheld and the technology is not there yet to have a PS4/Xbox one tier handheld that has a decent battery life. Steam Deck barely lasts as well.

That's the issue with these console quality handhelds in general.

I grew up on the GameCube so yes.

Is it easy to jailbreak?
No. It's a pain to jailbreak.

Yeah it does feel cheap especially when using it handheld

The only reason it even sold so well was due to the switch being portable thus requiring less effort to set up.

Eh, it was more so a console quality handheld was such a novelty at the time which built momentum and allowed the consoles success to snowball. Basically, a similar scenario to what happened with the Wii and DS.

I was shocked how cheap it felt. It was $100 more than the new 3ds XL at the time, and felt so much worse.
It felt worse than the Wii U as well.

I'm surprised Sony & Microsoft didn't make their own hand-held consoles to counter the switch.

Sony already failed with the Ps Vita,(which was basically the PlayStation version of the switch) so they're cautious to enter the handheld market again. Supposedly, after the success of the PlayStation portal they're developing a devoted handheld now to release alongside the PS6. Who knows if it'll be successful.

It has some pros but overall it's garbage

Nintendo just needs to remake the 3DS bruh

Nintendo has been on a downward fucking spiral. Thats part of why I stick to play station.

We'll likely never get another 3ds like handheld. We're stuck with tablets and bricks.
