Dont get me wrong, Ill take STALKER over fallout any day. Even if I can mod fallout 4 to use the same guns I personally own. But even if it didnt have the mods, there was one thing fallout 4 perfected that no one seems to bat a eye for. Political ideoligys. I shit you the fuck not.
When I first played fallout 4, 9 years ago, on my very first playthrough I joined the Brotherhood of steel thinking they were the good guys. And I had shitty ADHD. Still do actually. But only after blowing the institute did I see signs of what the brotherhood really belives in. When I came to that relization, it was a massive weres your god now moment for me. I sided with the bad guy thinking they were the best faction. So I treid the institute.
Then I came to the relizatiom that they enslaved human clones with hardware that can be put in humans as in evidence of Kellogs remains. And that the railroads goal is to re introduce the 13th Amendment. And then I did the rail road ending. Now the rail road may not be evil but they made some bad fuck ups. Libertalia were a free synth became a raider boss. The fact they erase memories. And the fact that theyll give the cuthulu treatment to everything that deosnt involve them. Only railroad person who bats a eye to outside shit is Decon, who is probably the best character of that game. He even points out that you should see what factions do instead of beliveing in what they claim to stand for.
But the best ending isnt the perfect ending or the most fun. That is the minutmen. There the least advanced, least smartest faction but they are the most moral and caring of the bunch. Preston is in a way the best symbol of a good guy in some ways. He deos not have the chad charisma ir anything beyond a 1st dimention character but he has a heart for somthing. I wont compare him to us since well to be honest, Im still with you guys but we sure as shit aint a morral high ground here. I geuss the best way to describe preston is the "safe guy" simuler to Forsest Gump when Jenny ignores him for chad dick.
All this is important because they are the major political powers in Boston. But if you looked at fallout 4 content on youtube around 2016/2017. You will see debates on witch faction is the best one to side with and why. You ask me I kinda have to agree with youtuber Oxhorn out of everyone else. He said the Minutmen were the best faction and he is right. They have the best intentions for the common wealth. Brotherhood and Institute may have the the most hot shit recources but when you look at the actions done by both of the 2 giga factions, they dont give a shit about anyone but them selfs. And have the ability and willingness to hurt many innocent people. Even Porter Gauge from Nuka world DLC points Brother hood for being no different from a raider gang.
Now for the entree of this. If you didnt give me the "TLDR" or "DNR" or "Ok grey" respnse then may I give out a statment from the bottom of my fucking heart. The faction you knowingly pick in fallout 4, reveals the mindset you have. Straight up. It can predict your political stance, it reveals what youll belive in, how likely you are to bullshit your way to a convenient truth and what your ideal world is. But I seen people debating pro brothehold/institute points that seem more like excuses then reasons to side with them. (These videos are 9 years ago please dont ask for a source). But you see people making excuses for staying with shitty faction 1 or shitty faction 2. I see this thing were people make excuses for supporting far left or far right ideoligys in real life for politics. Or in my grandmas case a part I like to call center extemists were its alot of the shitty sides of both left and right wing ideoligys. I seen people bullshit there way of being pro banning video games. I seen people bullshiting there way on supporting guncontroll. I see blacks using race as a excuse to support pro criminal groups like BLM, hell blacks will support literal pedofuckers because they are also black.(Im talking about R Kelly). How many woman support child abusing single moms?
Ill end it with this. Fallout 4s greatest acomplishment outside of a between good and great game with major flaws, is revealing how powerfull tribalsm is. Its fucking everywere. People will lie not only to others but themselfs to defend ideoligys even if there pure evil. And it can even be enhanced by religion witch is for another thread. "God told me eating shrimp is evil and is the work of the devil". Then again. It seems I forgoten somthing about conflicts.
