As I understand it, it's a handheld gaming device. But can it connect to a monitor or laptop screen like a switch does? How powerful is its hardware? And how does it compare to a PS5?

it is a portable gaming device with good enough hardware capable of running games.

you should be able to its like a psvita but windows
Never owned a ps vita before. So if you can connect it to a monitor or tv screen like a console then how does it compare to xbox and playstation?

You can connect it to the monitor/tv but it most likely wouldn't work with laptop screen since most don't have DP/hdmi in socket only out

Much much weaker it can't even compare to the specs of the basic PS4 since it's slightly weaker, you can oc it but then your battery will drain ultra fast. I would rather wait for Deck 2 which should be around or slightly below PS4 pro performance.

it will heat up thats for sure kekfuel ngl ded srs not my problem goyslop

I'd be worried about battery degradation and games that compatible with it

games that compatible with it
Battery is the quintessential planned obsolescence. Compatible in terms of hardware capabilities you mean, right? Because as I understand it runs a windows software and should have no problems with pc games

RUns all pc game, by default it has steam OS, which is console like. You can install Windows or Linux. It can be hooked up to a TV no problem and use keyboard and mouse or a gamepad.

Spec wise it has like ryzen 2000 something cpu and 1050 ti Gpu, which isnt really strong but enough to get by.

I'm just worried about it supporting old games, like 2000s

If it runs on my pc then it will run on Deck no problem. Just use https://www.magipack.games/p/games-list.html to download games with already preinstalled fixes and patches if games is not on the list then you need to do it on your own (use pcgamingwiki to find fixes)

Shooter without mouse seems very uncomfortable
By default you are running it on proton OS (linux) but you can install windows 10 or any other os and have same combability with any game as me on desktop. Steam Deck is really flexible but performance is always lacking.

Is the battery replaceable

Have no clue never owned deck and would have no use for it except sometimes for playing/emulating old games or reading VNs in my bed but since it's a dying medium i will be ran out of interesting things to read insanely quick, gaming on that thing is not very comfortable and dropping it over my face would be extremely painful :giga:

If its anything like a gaming laptop it'll go to shit within a couple years.

Steam Deck is like a handheld that plays PC games. It's PC equivalent is hard to determine because it's very weak compared to any PC built in the past decade, but it has newer RDNA 2 and FSR features.

I would not buy one if you plan on hooking up to a monitor or anything like that. It's made for like 800p gaming on a tiny screen.
