How do so many people rope knowing there’s a chance they could end up brain dead, crippled, paralyzed or otherwise turned into a living gore fest?

Have I just not reached my breaking point yet? Tbh though I truly believe that hypothetically let’s say I was teleported to the top of a mountain at my lowest emotional state. I think I’d jump in that moment where I otherwise wouldn’t, no hesitation.

But with walking up the mountain, I would’ve gotten enough air and time to have calmed down thus the fear comes back full force by the time I reach the top and then I can’t do it.

that’s a big concern for me, although if you do it at nighttime (roping) and have those good few hours before anyone discovers you, you will most likely be dead, roping for me would be really extreme though i don’t want to hurt my family like that and that’s the only thing that kept me from doing it

Why are you worried about being brain dead if brain death is defined as death, which is what you want (but shouldn't). And don't they kill people misdiagnosed with brain deat to steal their organs? That's the idea I got from this website:

That's probably one of the reasons why the suicide rate isn't higher than it already is. That and fear of pain. If there were a magical button that you could press that would kill you instantly, painlessly, and had a 100 percent success rate, and everyone had easy access to it, the suicide rate would be astronomical.

If Sisyphus could roll a boulder up a hill, why can't you continue to live? (I'm not a philosopher, but I don't think he succeeded, but my point is that that he was able to roll it up at all is impressive)
