How do normal people afford to live in San Francisco?

Rooms for more than 1000$ a month, tiny studio apartments for twice of that and mortgages start at around 500K even for the shittiest place. 2 bedroom apartments going for millions which is crazy. I doubt everyone in SF works at Facebook, Google or other big tech company that pays big bucks.

Because they work some bullshit tech job that pays ungodly about of money and they live with 5 other roommates. The smart ones probably live a van or very far away to save up their money while making a ass load of money doing nothing.

No one working a normal job lives in the city proper.
