I think some places will let you rent if you make a good enough income, say 3x-4x the monthly rent
I already have a year of work history so I’m half way there but I don’t wanna live with my parents for another year

Yea if you have a good credit score, then landlords will be okay with that even if you haven't rented before-- and even if not, you can usually still find a rental but they might ask for a larger security deposit up front

Landlords and even agents do vary a lot. Many will accept you especially if you pass other checks like credit score and affordability.
Getting a houseshare should be the obvious choice. No refs or anything needed. Dunno if US has an equivalent of Australia's Gumtree (Craigslist?) but that's where I'd look.
